AGPC - Purple Hippo Hot Sauce

Now I love AGP. I was first introduced to it when I worked at the Shipyard brewing company tap room.
We sold your sauces.
I loved Prickly Pear.
5 years later I order a few bottles and I noticed 2 things.
1) The Scovie winner sticker was gone
2) It tasted way more like strawberry than pear.
Did you guys change up the recipe? It still good but totally more strawberry than pear.

In 2 decades of hot sauce collection, this is by far one of my absolute favourites. Purple Hippo came into my life this past spring and I believe I will now always have a bottle in my pantry. While I love a good humbling heat (Demon Reaper was my first intro to AGPC and has been a staple ever since), and this sauce has enough of a sizzle to satisfy a bit of that masochism, it is also mellow enough to be shared (in small amounts) with other people that are less bold in their pepper adventures, giving them a tiny taste of the rush we seek. Often missing in many sauces that only have a goal of scorching burn, Purple Hippo's flavour can suit almost any dish - I've used it in tacos, chili, Asian cuisine, even the traditionally mild and bland pierogi, latkes and cabbage have been given new life with a hefty helping of the Hippo.

This really did have a fruity bubble gum flavor and a manageable heat. Definitely worth trying. For my own tastes I prefer with less sweetness and scarier art : )

I will enjoy the rest of the bottle very much.

Always a staple hot sauce to have on deck. The perfect blend of heat and touch of sweet. Pairs well with many foods. Always order more than one!
